Acceler8Talent is seeking an experienced VP of Hardware and Systems Engineering for an exciting, well-funded AI hardware startup who is pioneering next-gen, high-speed optics transceivers to power the connectivity needs of AI infrastructure and high-performance computing.
In this pivotal role, you will lead a team of highly experienced professionals requiring a highly experienced leader with a proven track record of delivering optical transceiver products into data center customers.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a multidisciplinary team in engineering and optical subsystem development.
- Define system architecture, design, interfaces, and tradeoffs to meet product schedules.
- Align product vision with strategic goals in coordination with leadership.
- Oversee system and subassembly development with external partners.
- Collaborate with teams on feature specs, requirements, and resource trade-offs.
- Ensure product releases meet performance goals and business needs.
- Drive hardware platform development with internal and external partners.
Required / Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- MS/PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering field.
- 15+ years in telecom, optoelectronics, or microelectronics, including management roles.
- Proven product design experience meeting Telcordia GR-468 compliance.
- Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Skilled in leading diverse, high-performing teams and mentoring talent.
- Technical expertise to address concerns and update executives effectively.
- Experience in candidate evaluation and team development.
- Adaptable to a global, multi-site matrixed organization.
- Primarily based in San Jose, CA, with some US and international travel.
